Current Events Workshop
- Description: This 1.5-hour workshop is designed for students in 7th grade and up. A carefully selected current event article is prepared for students to read during the workshop. Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension questions will be discussed and studied together. Some SAT-style multiple choice questions will follow and be discussed. Students then need to finish a timed essay with a prompt. After all students present their essays, more discussion will be conducted to help students improve their essays.

political campus organizations and NGOs. Talented and interested in English literature, Mr. Bond has been
tutoring PhD candidates and high school students in English for years. Current events is of special interest
to Mr. Bond and he believes it's very beneficial for middle school and high school students to gain insights
into life and society while gaining knowledge in English Reading and Writing.
Mr. Bond has been teaching Personalized English Reading and Writing Lessons and conducting a 9th Grade
Vocabulary Workshop in our learning center and is highly regarded by our students and their parents.

- Maximum number of students for each workshop: 6
- Who should join this workshop: Students from 7th grade and up who want to keep up with current events and practice English reading and writing skills at the same time. This workshop is also very beneficial for students who would like to prepare for SAT early because a significant percentage of reading and writing passages are excerpts from current events articles.
- Date and Time: 2:30pm - 4pm, Saturdays, 1/13/2018 - 5/26/2018, no workshops on 1/20, 2/17, and 3/17. There will be 17 1.5-hour workshops, but students can choose the days to join the workshop.
- Tuition, Discounts and Refund Policies
• $40/per workshop per student if taking 6-10 workshops
• $35/per workshop per student if taking 11 or more workshops
• $10/per student non-refundable materials fee
• Siblings can count together when calculating tuition.
Refund policy:
Full refund: if you withdraw your student one week before the first workshop on 1/13/2018.
Half refund: if you withdraw your student within a week before the first workshop on 1/13/2018.
No refund: if you inform us within 48 hours of a workshop (unless your child is sick).
- Make-up policy
• No make-up and no refund if you inform use within 48 hours of a workshop (unless your child is sick)
• If you let us know 48 hours before a workshop that your child can't come, we'll try to arrange a
make-up workshop for your child as long as there is available spot.
